It doesn’t seem long when I had a Sega Mega Drive and enjoyed playing Sonic the hedgehog and marvel at the graphics. In fact it doesn’t seem any longer when Nintendo was the only choice of game I had. Technology to me was what Tom Cruise used in Minority Report and I remember talking to the group of people I know about how it is impossible to do such a thing.
But time changes and it changes fast, today I find my self in an era of next generation technology and gaming. Motion sensor is the word to go, of course the pioneers started that with Wii but now we see PS3 following suit and Microsoft joining the clan soon after. Move by ps3, not really a big leap since it seems to be what Wii had but of course with much more accuracy. It is needless to say that when PS3 decided that to be their take on motion sensor gaming, I can not dare say a thing against that. What we see today as a Wii improvement have high potentials of being the next big thing, you never know but with the back ground Sony comes from I am sure that it is some thing more than what hits the eye.
Microsoft on the other hand come up with Kinect, I need to admit, though this is the only time this company have impressed me. Kinect is a promising technology and sure do open the horizon on next gen gaming, not only gaming but how humans interact with machines. I have not been able to check this out yet so will not declare a verdict but it is a fact that it seems at the moment to be the real winner in the long run.
As with PS3 move, I have not only tried that but been playing with that for a quite some time and believe me I have not seen or experienced such accuracy or depth in gaming before. There is no LAG first of all. PlayStation EYE does the job real well, even though it seems as a lolly pop with a light and have received a lot of criticism for it’s design, it never seems to come into notice while playing. As per me I think it is how it should have been, personally I didn’t like the design too but after taking the controller in my hand, there have been not a single time I have paid attention to what I am holding.
Once you hold the MOVE controller in your hand and get in the game….believe me it will become what you or the game want it to be (table tennis racket, sword, gun etc). If you are still deciding on weather to go for it or not, I say do not think any longer, it is going to be one of those investment that you will applaud yourself for.
Another thing about the MOVE is that it have the capability to become the choice of controller for even a hardcore gamer (KILLZONE 3, RESIDENT EVIL 5) have already gone with the technology. I have played RE5 with move and it is an excellent experience. Now with Kinect, I do not think it will be an easy transition for a hardcore gamer to make. Without controllers is a really big step, I mean I cannot imagine playing an FPS without holding something in my hand….but lets see.
Nintendo have a big advantage of course since it’s been around 3 years after their leap in the motion sensor business but I am sure SONY will catch up real fast as Nintendo couldn’t really do much with their Nanchuk’s so far. Just compare Wii sports with the Move offering, Table Tennis is almost 100% authentic, it never occurred to me that I am playing a game it is almost as if you are on the table your self…this you need to give a try to believe me.
Though I would advice to wait a little and let some games make it’s way to the move before you buy it.
