Islamabad: The committees of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), constituted for working out strategy for implementation of the 10-point agenda given by PML-N, met here on Thursday.
Talking to journalists after the meeting, Federal Finance Minister Dr Hafeez Shaikh said that progress was made regarding implementation of some point of the agenda during Thursday’s meeting .
He said that the meeting finalized the names of board members of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM).
Hafeez said the meeting also constituted a joint committee to evolve a transparent mechanism for change in petroleum products’ prices.
He said that Governor SBP would brief the committee on January 22 regarding the loans written off on political grounds.
The finance minister said that a committee had also been formed to look into the issue of gas and electricity load shedding.
He said next meeting of the committee would be held on January 26.
Talking to journalists on the occasion, Senator Ishaq Dar, who is heading the PML-N committee, said that during the meeting the pending accountability bill was discussed and it was decided that Law Ministry will brief the committees on January 26 regarding the bill.
He said that the reconstitution of Election Commission was also discussed during the meeting. He said the PPP side would present proposals for cut on government expenses on the next meeting.
He said that they would not wait for 45 days to implement the decisions taken by the committees, rather these would be implemented.
