Islamabad: Former Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) chief and defence analyst Gen (retd) Hameed Gul has said that the Kashmir dispute would be resolved after US drawdown from Afghanistan as India is not ready to address the issue in the presence of the US in the region.
In an interview with a Pakistani news agency, he said that how come Pakistan stops the US drone attacks on its territory when its president was bagging his security from America.
The former spymaster said that Zardari’s recent visit to the US would not help Pakistan, adding that his visit was aimed at seeking US commandos for the security of President House, Islamabad.
He held Pakistani rulers responsible for US drone attacks on the tribal region.
Gul said that President Zardari did not raise the issue of drone attacks with his US counterpart Barack Obama during his recent visit.
He said that India has been exerting pressure on Pakistan with the backing of the US.
He said that the Kashmir dispute could not be resolved through peace talks as India had sabotaged all such efforts in the past.
Replying a query about Afghan politics, the spymaster said that India was trying to increase its influence in Afghanistan to destablise Pakistan with the help of Americans.
He added that India’s dream of destablising Pakistan would shatter after US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
