Peshawar: Former interior minister and Pakistan People’s Party leader Major General (retd) Naseerullah Khan Babar passed away after protracted ailment, on Sunday night.
Babar served as Khyber Pukhtunkha Governor from 1975-1977 and as interior minister, during Benazir’s second stint as prime minister, from 1993-1996.
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his condolences over his demise, saying that Naseerullah Babar had played key role in strengthening the PPP and he had been close aide of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and BB.
His funeral prayers will be offered at 3pm at Peer Bhai in Nowshera today.
