Karachi: As the scare of dengue fever has just ended, the swine flu has hit the city, as more and more patients are being tested positive for the viral disease in Karachi.
Just in the first week of 2011, 11 patients have been tested positive for the disease in Karachi including a man who died of the diseases few days ago at a local hospital.
Dr Suresh Kumar, the in charge of swine flu surveillance cell Sindh, told The News Tribe that 10 more people, including six women, have tested positive for swine flue on Wednesday.
He said that now the number of people affected by the virus (A H1N1) in the city has risen to 11 in 2011.
Health experts are pointing out that the government-run hospitals in the city are ill equipped to deal with the rising number of the viral disease cases. They demanded of the government to take preventive measures and the public sector health facilities be equipped with necessary treatment facilities and medicines.
