A might-be decisive meeting between Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has come to an end.
The meeting was held to discuss recent political developments in the country.
Insiders of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), second largest party in the parliament, have mixed information about whether PML’s (N) leadership will decid to save the government or not.
Political temperature of Pakistan rose to red level on Sunday as Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), major coalition party of the government, quit its support to Pakistan Peoples Party-led government over the issue of inflation and corruption.
Since then the PM Gillani is active to survive his government. For this purpose, he has already contacted CM Punjab and another major political party Muslim League’s (Quaid-e-Azam) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
After his meeting with CM Punjab, the prime minister has immediately left his Lahore residence to meet Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain as PM’s security staff has finalized all necessary arrangements.
In the meanwhile, PML (Q) has convened an emergent meeting of the party to decided on the issue.
Jamiat Ulema e Islami (Fazl), who has already quit the government and now a part of the opposition benches, has already demanded removal of the prime minister on issue of dismissal of one of JUI’s ministers.
