Kathmandu: The government of Nepal has decided to promote positive and credible journalism in the country.
According to government sources, Nepal has celebrated national press day as an opportunity to promote positive journalism in the country.
To promote positive journalism, five journalists from various newspapers were given the ‘Positive Journalism grant’ of Rs10, 000 recently at a function.
Parasmani Dangal, Editor, ‘Samay Dainik’, Rajen Chettri, Photographer, ‘Nayuma Television’,  Indira Chettri, Editor ‘Basundhara’ weekly, Narayan Joshi, Editor, ‘Frontier’ weekly news paper and Deepmilan Pradhan, Editor, ‘Chetna’ are among those who received the grant.
Speaking at the ceremony, CB Karki, the minister of IRP department, stressed on the need to take journalism seriously as the newsmen and media play a vital role in society.
