Kabul: Spokesman of Afghanistan Interior Ministry Zemarai Bashary said Sunday that at least 2,000 civilians and more than 1,300 policemen have been killed during 2010 in Afghanistan.
In a press conference at Kabul, he termed the year 2010 as deadliest year for Afghanistan. He further said that around 2,000 officials were injured last year.
It is pertinent to mention here that a United Nations report claimed that more than 31 percent more civilians have been killed during the first six months of 2010 than earlier years.
Besides this at least 711 NATO troops including 498 Americans were killed during last year in Afghanistan, which is reportedly the highest annual death toll since 2001.
The report further said that 25 percent of civilians were killed by pro-government and foreign forces. Majority of this 25 percent was killed in air strikes. Agencies
