Abuja: At least 30 people were killed and several injured when a bomb ripped through a crowded market near Abacha Barracks in Nigerian capital city.
Police said the bomb exploded when people were busy in shopping for the New Year celebrations, killing 11 dead instantly and injuring several others.
The injured were rushed to nearby hospital where 19 of them succumbed to their injuries, brining the death toll to 30.
The market where the blast occurred is situated near the military barracks and it is not yet clear weather the people or the barracks were the actual target, Nigerian foreign minister informed the media.
