Islamabad: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday approved the summary to raise the price of petrol by Rs6.71 per liter. New prices of patrol has reached at Rs 79.67 . The notification will be affected from Jan 1, 2011.
The price of diesel has also increased by Rs4.25 per liter and its new prices has been reached at Rs 82.58, proposed by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources.
Though the new prices will be implemented from Jan 01, 2010 at 12:00 am, various petrol pumps have immediately raised the prices of petroleum products, while a large number of pumps have suspended sale to customers to seek more profit by selling fuel after midnight. People are facing acute problems due to such behavior of petrol pump owners.
It is pertinent to mention here that the government collects Rs250 billion in the form of taxes on petroleum products.
