President Asif Ali Zardari assured Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday to address its reservations as tensions mounted between the two coalition partners over Zulfiqar Mirza’s statement.
A delegation of MQM led by Farooq Sattar called on Asif Zardari here at president house. The two sides discussed the situation arisen following the heated statement by Sindh home minister in which he accused MQM of being involved in targeted killing.
On this occasion, the president acknowledged the MQM was an important ally in the province and federation.
“We want to take MQM alongwith us in the democratic process”, added Zardai.
Earlier, the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had also assured the MQM of addressing its reservations. The premier also telephoned Zulfiqar Mirza and directed him to abstain from giving statements against the allies.
